This contemporary west coast lakefront vacation home is situated on a ½ acre lot, and offers ample room and comforts for the active large family or groups seeking outdoor recreation and water activities, luxury, and the peace and tranquility of the countryside.
Fork Lake home sleeps up to 10 people in 4 or 5 bedrooms. It boasts a large master bedroom, en suite, sauna and private sundeck. The king-size bed is surrounded by glass to view the bird life from 3 floors up over looking the lake by day while you star gaze by night. The main floor has three tastefully decorated bedrooms, containing two queens and one double bed, bathroom and laundry room. The well-equipped country kitchen makes it very suitable for family gatherings and corporate getaways. Gorgeous water views, surrounded by arbutus trees and forest, are the predominant settings once you step into the dining area and living room. Cedar French doors open up onto a patio paradise, complete with Barbeque, changing your inside dining to a great outdoors dining room, if you so desire. Hardwood floors, tile, honey-onyx stone and a marble woodstove help to create a living space that is artistically timeless, where you lose track of time while visiting paradise. A glass and wood-framed Solarium sits off the living room affording you a sanctuary with a birds-eye view out to the playground of bald eagles, hawks, blue herons, finches, humming birds etc. You can also watch the family play chess or checkers on the built in concrete checker board just outside the windows or watch volley ball or badminton if so desired. Downstairs is a finished, carpeted rumpus room that can serve as a 5th bedroom, complete with books and board games that will thrill the children, or teens with its own entrance out to the hot tub, lake and yard areas.
The back yard is a perfect badminton, or volley ball court while the front lawn is perfectly flat for entertaining or croquet pitch etc.
The Hot Tub seats 8 adults and is thoughtfully situated a few meters away from the lake offering you, “The Fork Lake Plunge” an experience of a lifetime. After languishing in the tub, feeling the beads of perspiration trickling down your face, you get out, stroll down the stairs, and plunge into the spring fed waters of Fork Lake. You’ll feel rejuvenated after a day of shopping, hiking, or after a hard fought game of tennis. This is an experience never to be forgotten and one that surely needs to be repeated.
A brick patio overlooks the lake and is an excellent area for dinners, drinks and general viewing of swimmers, paddle boaters and canoeists. For the strong or leisurely swimmer Fork Lake is an excellent workout with no worries of motors, which are prohibited. There is also a floating dock a few meters out from the shore for diving and sun tanning.
You will find Fork Lake House nestled among verdant evergreen and arbutus trees on a quiet country lane, located just 20 minutes from the Garden City of Victoria, British Columbia, in the beautiful rolling hills of the Highlands. The home is well-situated on a private ½ acre lakefront property with Mt. Work Regional Park rising up from the north end of the lake, providing world class scenic hiking through old growth forests and climbing into the drier elevation of the Mountain top which views out over the Pacific Ocean to major mountain ranges that roll across the skyline. When it's time to take out the golf clubs, World Class Bear Mountain Golf Course is just a 10 minute drive down the road at the foot of Mount Finnlayson. Try our municipal courses 15 minutes into the Westshore Community or take in fine dining, pub fare, shopping, playing at the Casino, or seeing such sites in Victoria like the famous Empress Fairmont Hotel, Royal B.C. Museum, Museum of Art, Butchart Gardens or whale watching. Cast a rod from a fishing charter boat. Enjoy the excitement of kayaking, horseback riding or playing tennis. Ride a bike on the Galloping Goose Trail or walk into the sunset on a mile long sandy beach. All these activities are literally minutes away from the Fork Lake House.
