Located on the waterfront in a quiet country cul-de-sac. Close to both the airport and the ferry terminal. Modern architect-designed home (built 2000) fills with light every afternoon. Sensational views over Saanich Inlet to summer sunsets. Enjoy patio dining under spreading oak trees – your very own Mediterranean experience. A mature garden cascades down stone steps to an artist’s studio on the sea, and a very private rock beach. Watch eagles, gulls and seals on your doorstep, and fall asleep to the lapping of waves.
(Notes: no smokers, please. And you must like stairs – there are stairs everywhere in the house, and 55 between the street and the beach!)
The house comes fully equipped with all modern conveniences. There is space for 2 vehicles in the drive, plus more on the street. Many fine walks around the neighborhood, including a marina located just a few hundred metres away. A convenience store & gas station are 3 minutes drive. The nationally famous Chalet Restaurant is close at hand, as is the award-winning Chalet Estate Winery.
The small town of Sidney (Canada’s only BookTown) is 10 minutes of country drive, where there are 3 supermarkets and many charming stores, several fine spas, plus restaurants, galleries, bakeries, coffee shops & more. Try to catch at least one of the summer theatre productions at the Winspear Centre, or one of the many art shows (the area is home to many acclaimed artists). And there’s a huge Summer Market every Thursday evening – don’t miss it. (And parking is still free in Sidney.)
Two golf courses within a 10 minute drive welcome visitors. Numerous local parks offer fine hiking. Or cycle the Cordwood Trail (an old railway right-of-way) all the way to Victoria. In Sidney go whale watching, visit the BC Air Museum or the Shaw Ocean Centre, browse the many bookstores, or rent a kayak, take a water taxi to the smaller Gulf Islands, or a ferry to the larger ones. Or catch the passenger ferry to Sidney Spit National Marine Park – the finest white sand beaches in the straits, and never any crowds!
