Mt. Washington is Vancouver Island's premier winter sports centre. With over 1600 acres of skiable terrain, it has something to offer even the most demading skier or snowboarder. Steep and deep for the serious enthusiast, wide and gentle groomers for the more relaxed, this mountain has it all. And lots of it, boasting an average annual snowfall of over 600 cm. Miles of cross-country and snowshoeing trails provide either a strenuous workout or a relaxing wander through the forest. This is the gateway to beautiful Strathcona Park, with it's immense peaks, sparkling lakes, and deep valleys.

It's not just in the winter that Mt. Washington shines either. During the summer It becomes a mecca for mountain bikers and hikers, providing easy access to the alpine via two operating chairlifts. Take your bike to the top and enjoy the thrill of the downhill trails with their many features. Ride the chair to the peak just to wander around the easy trails, enjoying the unbelievable 360 degree view over the Strait of Georgia, Desolation Sound, Strathcona Park, and nearly the entire east coast of Vancouver Island. Truly a vantage worth the ride. Hiking the trails of Strathcona Park is also extremely popular, there are several significant peaks within a day or two's walk.

Our unit is located in Bear Lodge, the newest on-hill accommodation on Mt. Washington. It is on the first floor for easy access to the slopes or the underground parking garage. It is a one-bedroom unit, with a hideabed couch in the living room, allowing four people to stay comfortably. All the amenities you could want are provided such as TV (also in the bedroom),DVD, stereo, gas fireplace, deck, games, fully appointed kitchen, and a large bathroom with soaker tub. This unit was designed as wheelchair accessable, with many appropriate features.

The condo's south-facing view is breathtaking on a clear day. The jagged peaks of Strathcona Park shimmer beyond the deck and large sliding glass windows. This is the quiet side of the building, away from the nightly groomers on the slopes of the north side. During the ski season, this building is one of the most truly ski-in, ski-out on the mountain. Just steps from the run and lifts, it's so easy to enjoy. The underground parking is also a wonderful thing after a week on the mountain. It's not unknown for a metre of snow to fall in a couple of days, imagine digging your vehicle out after a week of that? At Bear Lodge you don't have to. A heated driveway and entrance steps keep them snow-free all winter.
